What can be done to prevent strokes

According to the World Stroke Organisation, up to 90% of strokes could be prevented by addressing a small number of risk factors.

If you manage the factors that damage your arteries or together with your doctor you manage the other risk factors that could cause blood clots, you can to a large extend prevent stroke from happening.

Blood Pressure

If your blood pressure is high, it means that your arteries are under constant tension.

This tension damages arteries throughout the body, creating conditions where they can burst or where blood clots can form more easily, which could cause a devastating stroke.

Your body has the ability to help these damaged arteries heal, but you have to try to keep your blood pressure low.

Know your numbers have your blood pressure checked and if it is high, consult a doctor to help you manage this important risk factor.
